Service Jetty Construction
The Pilbara Ports Authority anticipated the need to increase the berthing capacity of the existing jetty. The solution was to remove the existing landing structure and replace it with four (4) floating pontoons for accessing vessels over the entire tidal range, upgrade the existing walkway to the mooring dolphin and provide a catwalk under the walkway for servicing the underside of Berth 1.
The Project required extensive planning and management to safely execute the project due to the close proximity of the busy Port.
Berth 1 Service Jetty modification works included:
- Removal of the existing redundant steelwork (walkways, landings and support steelwork)
- Installation of new superstructure steelwork
- 4 walkway segments
- 2 access stairs & 1 gangway
- 2 900mm diameter piles
- 4 floating pontoons.
