FMG T155 Sheet Pile Wall Installation
Total AMS were contracted by Fortescue Metals Group to install 125 No. 1200OD interlocking piles in South West Creek to form a retaining wall thereby permitting dredging to occur within 10m of their existing infrastructure at the Herb Elliot Port.
Total AMS utilised a 350t payload jackup barge, 240′ crane barge equipped with a 650t crane and an IHC S-280 piling hammer to install the piles up to 35m into the seabed. Some piles were drilled with a pile top drill rig to progress the piles beyond refusal at specific locations. The project duration was 6 months and required a crew of 40 people.
