Marine Loading Arm Installation

With no crane or large vehicular access to its 3 main jetties there was a requirement to have a crane barge to complete these works. TAMS completed a detailed rigging study on each of the three marine loading arms to develop the safest and most efficient means of extracting the arms from the jetty within designated shutdown periods.

As part of the overall removal methodology, engineering design and vessel stability studies were completed which resulted in all three 24 tonne arms towering over 20 metres in height being rigged up vertically and lifted from the jetty to a 55m crane barge. The arms were then barged in a vertical orientation from Kwinana to Fremantle where they were then disassembled on the barge and trucked to respective workshops for refurbishment.

Barge modifications were required to allow the crane, EWP and marine loading arms to be all housed on the vessel during a single voyage
