Rock Scour Protection – Gorgon LNG
The FT3 backhoe dredger was internally built by TAMS via a 16 week conversion of a 35m barge. TAMS installed a 3 piece boom deck-mounted excavator, motorised spuds, hydraulic thrusters and other machinery.
The vessel was constructed to comply with Chevron Operational Excellence and OVID requirements.
Weather conditions permitting, the FT3 worked 24 hours a day placing scour rock (1 -8 Tonne) around caisson!s of the Barrow Island jetty in order to prevent large ships from colliding directly with the caissons.
In addition to providing rock placement the FT3 also dredged and removed marine sediment from areas that were required for site requirements.
