Spar Buoy Assembly & Installation
Working under the main contractor, NTC Contracting, TAMS scope was to assemble and install 22 spar buoy navigation beacons, marking Chevron’s Wheatstone Product Loading Facility (PLF) Shipping Channel and manoeuvring basin.
TAMS Onslow Supply Base received the buoy components, assembled and loaded out the buoys over their heavy lift wharf. The multicat vessels then delivered the spar buoys to site.
Working in tandem (SIMOPS), 1 multicat acted as the primary installation vessel, winching the buoys down to pre-installed 90 tonne clump weights while the 2nd multicat supported the diving operations, connecting the spar buoys to their bases via 120 tonne shackles, with a Chevron compliant Enriched Air Nitrogen dive spread onboard.
Each spar buoy was then commissioned, with lanterns, Racon beacons and associated navigational equipment before comprehensive as-built inspections were undertaken and documented in accordance with client specifications.
